    The Only Love

If we collected all the love that the entire world could ever give to us that still would be only a speck compared to God's endless love.Oh, botomless, infinite Love of God that we move in every single minute of our lives, although we may often not realise it, we have our beginning in you and in you there is our destination. You are the only hope for us in this land of exile. How I miss You the Only Love!!!!

    no good without Him

I can do no good at all without Him and I can do all the good with His help. This good goes far beyond me and my weak natures often disbelieves it and fears it . But still, by faith ,I know it is actually the Lord who takes the action. I am just an empty vessel -left on its own it is good for nothing. However, He can do all the good He wishes to do through me if only I open up for Him. The empty useless vessel becomes filled up with the Living Water. Jesus power is enormous.

    Thomas a Kempis

"Be assured that if you knew all, you would pardon all.

Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be.

Be thankful for the least gift, so shall you be meant to receive greater.

Love flies, runs, and rejoices; it is free and nothing can hold it back.

Remember that lost time does not return.

First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.

Great tranquility of heart is his who cares for neither praise not blame.

We usually know what we can do, but temptation shows us who we are."

    Thomas Merton's words

A life is either all spiritual or not spiritual at all. No man can serve two masters. Your life is shaped by the end you live for. You are made in the image of what you desire.

It is in the ordinary duties and labors of life that the Christian can and should develop his spiritual union with God.

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.

We do not exist for ourselves.

We stumble and fall constantly even when we are most enlightened. But when we are in true spiritual darkness, we do not even know that we have fallen.

There must be a time of day when the man who makes plans forgets his plans, and acts as if he had no plans at all.
There must be a time of day when the man who has to speak falls very silent. And his mind forms no more propositions, and he asks himself: Did they have a meaning? There must be a time when the man of prayer goes to pray as if it were the first time in his life he had ever prayed; when the man of resolutions puts his resolutions aside as if they had all been broken, and he learns a different wisdom: distinguishing the sun from the moon, the stars from the darkness, the sea from the dry land, and the night sky from the shoulder of a hill.

    St. Anselm's prayer

    O Lord my God,
teach my heart this day where and how to see You,
where and how to find You.

You have made me and remade me,
and You have bestowed on me
all the good things I possess,
and still I do not know You.
I have not yet done that
    for which I was made.

    Teach me to seek You,
    for I cannot seek You
    unless You teach me,
    or find You
unless You show Yourself to me.

Let me seek You in my desire,
Let me desire You in my seeking.
Let me find You by loving You,
Let me love You when I find You.

    St Patric's prayer

Christ with Me, Christ before Me

    Christ to protect me today
    against poison, against burning,
    against drowning, against wounding,
so that there may come abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ where I lie, Christ where I sit, Christ where I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

Govern Everything by Your Wisdom by St. Teresa of Avila

Govern everything by Your wisdom, O Lord,
so that my soul may always be serving You
    in the way You will
    and not as I choose.
    Let me die to myself so that I may serve You;
let me live to You who are life itself. Amen

    St. Augustine's prayer

O Lord, the house of my soul is narrow; enlarge it that you may enter in.
It is ruinous, O repair it! It displeases your sight; I confess it, I know.
But who shall cleanse it, or to whom shall I cry but unto you?
Cleanse me from my secret faults, O Lord, and spare your servant from strange sins.

    St John of Damascus prayer

    Hold dominion of my heart
    Keep it as your inheritance.
    Make your dwelling in me,
Along with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Widen in me the cords of your tabernacle,
Even the operations of your Most Holy Spirit.
For you are my God, and I will praise you,
    together with the Eternal Father,
    And our quickening Spirit,
    Now, henceforth and forever.
    Amen.

    self-offering

prayers by St Ignatius of Loyola

    Self-offering

    Take, Lord, all my liberty.
    Receive my memory, my understanding,
    and my whole will.
    Whatever I have and possess,
    You have given me;
to You I restore it wholly,
and to Your will I utterly
    surrender it for my direction.
Give me the love of You only,
    with Your grace, and I am rich enough;
nor do I ask anything else

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    For service

    Teach us, good Lord,
to serve You as You deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
    save that of knowing that we do Your will;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord.
